Cowry Medical Group

Our Services

The healthcare you have been looking for, with the personal experience you deserve

Cowry Medical Group is an Internal Medicine, Primary Care Practice with Nephrology (kidney care) at its core. Dr. Nweke, our founding physician, believes that taking care of the patient as a whole person and understanding how their lifestyle impacts their healthcare, enables us to provide person-centered, high- quality care. As a result, he started a practice whose focus was not on the quantity of patients seen, but by the quality of the relationship between the practitioner and their patients. As the practice has grown, Dr. Nweke has hand-picked providers who are committed to and enjoy the same patient-provider relationship model.

Internal Medicine

All Specialists start as Internal Medicine Practitioners. Our practice is an Internal Medicine Practice with Nephrology at its core. That does not mean that a patient must have kidney issues to be seen by our practice, it simply means that we offer that higher level of expertise to those who would benefit from it. Because of the vital role the kidney plays in our overall health we believe that this expertise benefits all our patients. We frequently treat chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease with the understanding that, if a specialist is needed, a trusted referral will be made. Through this holistic model, we enable our patients to consolidate their healthcare needs with a provider that knows them and that they know and trust.

As Nephrologist, a practitioner will assess and diagnose diseases of the kidneys. While many people know that the kidneys remove waste products from the body, many don’t know that they also release hormones that regulate blood pressure, control the production of red blood cells, balance the bodies fluids, and produce an active form of vitamin D that promotes strong, healthy bones. That means that the kidneys have an impact on every other system in our bodies. If they aren’t doing their job, the effects can be felt through out the body.

Telehealth and Remote Patient Monitoring

In today’s busy world, we don’t want the demands of people’s lives to impact their ability to access quality healthcare. We strive to provide quality alternatives to our patients that enable excellent healthcare while enhancing convenience and efficiency. By utilizing Remote Patient Monitoring Devices, such as blood pressure monitors or weight scales,  patients can consistently track their health and transmit that data for practitioner review, from the comfort of their own home Used in conjunction with a telehealth visit, a practitioner is able to monitor on-going conditions and assess patients for routine healthcare needs.
